INGREDIENTS
Contains real cherries.
A play on words, named after the River Hitch's joining of the Wash! A Belgian styled brown ale brewed with locally grown black cherries. Note "brewed with", rather than the addition of any fruit concentrate at the end of the brew, as most mass produced Krieks are!.
TASTING NOTES
A deep reddish brown coloured ale with a thick pinkish-white head. A sweet malty, chocolate and coffee aroma, with the cherry fruit coming through. The taste is rich and smooth, chocolate and coffee complimenting the subtle, dry cherry fruit flavours that come from the real fruit in the mash.
CHEF'S RECOMMENDATION
The classic combination of Roast Duck and cherry sauce springs to mind! When my local wildfowlers manage to acquire some, I make a sauce using the Kriek and suggest serving the beer as well. Also, with its smooth malty elements, it could make a good accompaniment to any chocolate desserts, Mousse au Chocolat for example.
